On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to offer a warm Edgeley Park welcome to everybody connected to Wycombe Wanderers.
I have no doubt that all County supporters have been looking forward to tonight’s game from the moment the draw was made.
I always think there is something special about watching cup games at Edgeley Park, especially the ones with an evening kick off.
Tonight’s game sees us matched against a Wycombe team that is enjoying a successful season and they are currently positioned fourth in the League 2 table just a point away from an automatic promotion place.
But, despite our slow start to the season results, thanks to James and Peter and a great deal of effort from the players, has seen County slowly climb up the league table.
And, on recent form, tonight’s game should be a close, tight affair and we, the supporters, can have a big influence on the result.
The backing our Blue & White Army gives the club is formidable and the support given during matches must be envied by everybody we play.
So come on, let’s hear the famous Edgeley Roar tonight and cheer the lads on to round three.
Over Shadowed
Last Saturday’s game against Macclesfield was over shadowed by the horrendous injuries suffered by the three Macc players, Jon Brain, Andrew Teague and Simon Wiles.
On behalf of Stockport Football Club I would like to wish them all the best and hope they have a full and speedy recovery.
The fact that we were able to offer such prompt, and quality, attention to the injured players is testimony to Rodger Wylde and all our medical team here at Edgeley Park.
The sterling work that all the backroom staff does behind the scenes is, I assure you, fully appreciated by everybody connected to Stockport County.
Happier
Finally, on a much happier note, I was delighted to make a presentation during the half-time interval against the Silkmen to our very special Guest of Honour, Danny Bergara.
Danny, of course, needs no introduction from me but I would like to say that it was wonderful to see him back at Edgeley Park and it was quite clear the rest of the County faithful felt like me … the rousing rendition of Danny Bergara’s Blue & White Army from the Cheadle Enders really did make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck.
We now hope to see Danny back at Edgeley Park much more often in the future.
