The main role of the Trust Board is to look after the interests of the major shareholder in Stockport County Football Club. The Trust Board work very closely with the Club Board to ensure the club is moving in the right direction. The Trust Board don't get involved in the day to day running of the Club; that is the job of the Chairman, Managing Director and Club Board.
The Trust Board also have other responsibilities which generally fall into one of four areas:
- Club Board Relations
- Fund Raising
- Membership
- PR & Communications
Club Board Relations:
Working and communicating regularly with the SCFC Directors ensures that the Trust Board knows the direction the Club are taking along with any major issues that might arise. It also allows the Trust Board to add comments and suggestions on specific projects\initiatives that the Club Board are planning to ensure they are in the best interests of the Trust.
Two Trust Board members are also Club Board members at present and the Trust Chairman and Secretary also attend Club Board meetings.
Fund Raising:
As a Trust owned club we don't have the reserves that many privately owned Clubs have, but that also means we are never beholden to anyone.
The Trust Board look for new and innovative ways to raise funds that can be used primarily by the football club wherever necessary, and is a constant goal of the Trust Board to raise as much money as possible, from various sources, all year round.
Membership:
The more members the Trust has, the larger the pool of talent to work with and the more support we have within the local community.
Membership isn't just about having a high number of members, it's about fans of Stockport County knowing what the Trust is and why being a Trust owned club is a good thing. If we can inform fans of the benefits of being Trust owned and they choose to become members then that’s a bonus.
PR & Communications:
One of the greatest difficulties the Trust has is giving Trust members and County fans the information they crave in a timely manner. The Trust Board do, and will continue to provide concise and accurate information within a timely manner through various mediums to ensure all Trust members and fans are kept up to date.
