"One day all football clubs will wish they were like Stockport County"
A Word from our Sponsor
May 2006

Steve Parfett of Parfetts' Cash & Carry, the team sponsors for the past three years, posted a message to both the Trust and the Stockport County Mailing Lists recently. He was writing about the match between the staff at Stockport County and the staff at Parfetts' Cash & Carry. We just thought that you would all like to read what he had to say...

"Just got back from EP. Where else would you get a league football club arranging a thank you match for the sponsor's staff at the end of the season so that they felt involved?

Where else would the participants use all the first team facilities, including having full kit laid out for them?

Where else would the club go to the trouble of issuing a team sheet for all those playing?

Where else would the club manager and first team coach turn up after working hours, not only to put in an appearance, but also to play?

Where else would the backroom staff do the same? Craig Maddern, Richard Langdon, Mick Wiblin and Dave Felgate all played this evening. Where else would the Football In the Community staff do the same?

Where else would the MD play, the Marketing manager manage the "County team" and the shop manager come along to take the pictures (not to mention the Sue the Reddish flasher!)?

Where else would Bish be brewing up for spectators in the stands? Where else would a member of the trust board turn out for the club backroom team? Take a bow Sunny (George Hudson)!

Sunny heads the ball clear

Where else would the club lay on a professional referee for the evening? Where else would a league club allow access to their hallowed turf for such an event?

And last but by NO means least, where else would the football club chairman personally give up his evening, bring his long-suffering but incredibly supportive wife along with him, and run the touchline for the second half of the match?

Where else would the Chairman go into the back room, find a redundant trophy, and insist on presenting it to William, an employee with learning difficulties and a mad keen County fan, as man of the match?

Jim Gannon still on form

Thank you Norman & Linda, Jim, Peter, Craig, Mick, Richard, Dave, Mike & the FITC staff, Kevan, Martin, Christine, Bish, Sunny, and everyone else involved, from all at Parfetts for a antastic evening. We own our Football Club... and what a difference it makes!"

I don't know about you but I am feeling particularly proud of our football club at the moment. Oh and in case you were wondering, the match ended as a 4 - 4 draw.
